Difference between Operational, Tactical and Strategical decision

No comments

It is important to clearly define the scope when we talk about operational, tactical and strategical. When we take decisions, when an action has an impact in your organization, we can define this impact by a “level” or a “scope”. That’s what we call Operational, Tactical or Strategical decision level.

You can also define those scopes by the duration it takes for an action to be implemented. We generally see them as follow:

Operational (or quick win): 2 to 3 weeks

Tactical = 4 to 6 months

Strategical = 1 to 2 years

Those 3 categories also define a hierarchy in a company, the higher you go, the more strategical you become and therefore, bigger is your impact within the organization.
